Calgary Flames Legend To Receive Grand Honor

Miikka Kiprusoff's Jersey to Be Retired!

Calgary Flames Legend to Receive Grand Honor

Celebration Set for March 2nd

All eyes will be on the Scotiabank Saddledome on March 2nd, as the Calgary Flames retire the jersey of one of their most iconic players, Miikka Kiprusoff. The Finnish goaltender, who spent nine seasons with the Flames, will be honored with a pre-game ceremony before the team's matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Kiprusoff, who entered the NHL in 2000, quickly established himself as one of the league's top netminders. He led the Flames to the Stanley Cup Final in 2004 and won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie in 2006 and 2007. He also represented Finland in the Olympics and World Championships.

In addition to the jersey retirement, all fans in attendance will receive a limited-edition t-shirt celebrating Kiprusoff's legacy. The Flames are encouraging fans to arrive early for the pre-game ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. MT.

Kiprusoff's jersey retirement is a fitting tribute to one of the most successful players in Flames history. He will join an elite group of players whose jerseys have been retired by the team, including Jarome Iginla, Al MacInnis, and Lanny McDonald.
